This season saw tremendous success from both the U11 Girls and U12 Girls teams, and the future of girls soccer at SC Central looks bright with both of these two teams transitioning to Tier 2 EMSA for the Outdoor 2025 season.
Jacqueline Belbin, the Head Coach of the U11 Girls team, shared her thoughts on their memorable indoor season:
"This was my first season coaching at SCCA, and I had the honour of Coaching the U10 Girls' team. We had decided to play at the Tier 4 level to see how everything was going to work. I was a new coach for the girls, and even though we were a U10 team, the girl's ages ranged from 7 to 9 years old, coming in very light on the U10's. Let me tell you, age was not a factor, and these young ladies played with heart, determination and a skillset that some may think would be beyond their years, but it wasn't.
Whether we were playing co-ed teams or other girls' teams, these girls left it all on the field and won all 8 of their league games. They went undefeated in their first U10 season with an impressive 42 GF (goals for) and 3 GA (goals against). We also played in three tournaments this season, all of which were in Tier 1 & 2 U10 Pools. We placed third in two of the tournaments, just missing going to the gold medal game in our last tournament by one goal.
This team's growth and willingness to step on the field and play soccer against full Tier 1 & 2 U10 teams and win those games is what sets these athletes apart. These girls have nothing but potential, and I look forward to seeing how they grow as we move to Tier 2 for our 2025 outdoor season!"
Tristen Clubine, the Head Coach of the U12 Girls team, commented on her teams success this season:
"Getting to experience the growth of these incredible athletes from the start of the season to the end of the season was nothing short of inspiring. The work ethic of these girls is unmatched, and the passing and movement displayed on the field this season put the spotlight on this team and found us lots of success. It is such a gift to be able to work with a group of players who's passion for and joy of the game is infectious, and the girls have made this season exceptionally memorable and rewarding for themselves and for me as their coach.
The highlight of the season for these girls was competing and medalling in both of our two home tournaments while playing up at the Tier 1/2 level. Despite facing considerable competition, the team displayed tremendous heart and secured a bronze medal win in our Canada Cup Tournament and a gold medal win in our Alberta Cup Tournament. The gold medal win marked the first time an SCCA Girls soccer team won gold in a home tournament, and spoke volumes about the progress these players have made in their time with the club. Competing and winning in those tournaments at the Tier 1/2 level was a testament to this teams ability to play quality soccer, and was validation for our team that we can continue to thrive at the Tier 2 level.
I am incredibly grateful to this group of girls, the amazing team of coaches and staff at SCCA, and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this season so successful. I am so excited for everything that is to come for this talented group of players, and looking forward to continuing to coach these girls in Tier 2 for the Outdoor 2025 season!"
